Alexander Mackenzie of Park House in Inverness was born in Gairloch in 1838. The son of a crofter and fisherman, he became a prolific author who founded the Celtic Magazine and the Scottish Highlander as well as writing several excellent family histories and other works. He died in 1898.

Now available on CD-ROM, this eBook is based on the second and final edition of Alexander Mackenzie's work, updated and enlarged by Alexander Macbain. Published in 1900 and limited to only 500 copies, it is a reference book which is much sought after by all those who have an interest in the history and genealogy of the Matheson / Mathieson family.
